Contest My Citation and Request a Trial:

If you would like to contest your citation and request a hearing, you must send a written (email preferred - tjc@nyecountynv.gov) request to the court and post a bond of the total amount of your citation.  If you would like to appear via Zoom, please include that request in your email as well or at a minimum 48 hours prior to your scheduled hearing date.  Once the court receives your hearing request, you will get a notice of hearing with your Trial date.

Appear in Person - If you would like to appear in person at your Trial, please arrive 15 minutes early and be sure to check in with the office staff upon arrival.  Sometimes unexpected circumstances arise and your court date may have to be rescheduled.  It is recommended you contact the court to confirm your court date prior to traveling.

Request to Appear Virtually Via Zoom -  If you would like to appear virtually via Zoom, you must submit a request a minimum of 48 hours prior to your hearing.  It would be preferable if you submit your Zoom request along with your hearing request.  To request a virtual appearance, please click on the Civil Infraction Hearing Zoom Request Form link below to fill out and submit your request to the Court. A Zoom link will be sent to your email about 48 hours prior to your hearing.  If you do not receive a link, please call the Court.

CIVIL INFRACTION HEARING ZOOM REQUEST FORM

What to Expect at your Trial -  This hearing is a Civil Trial.  You are responsible for your own research and review of the rules for civil infractions and civil procedure prior to your hearing.  At Trial, the Judge will render a decision based on the testimony and evidence presented.  If you fail to appear at your Trial a Default Judgment will be entered, your bond forfeited and case closed.

Online Dispute Resolution:

If you would like the opportunity to resolve your citation without appearing in Court, you may submit an email to the Judge with an explanation of the citation, any photos/documentation for the Judge to review, and what outcome you are hoping for.  The Judge will review all your information and make a decision.  If you are unhappy with the Judge's decision you will still have the opportunity to request a Trial.  Email tjc@nyecountynv.gov.

Demerit Buy Down Program:

The Demerit Buy Down Program allows for the reduction of up to 2 points with a fee of $50.00 per point (up to $100.00).  If you would like to participate in this program or would like more information, please contact the court.  Email requests can be made to tjc@nyecountynv.gov.

If you would like to perform community service in lieu of payment or request a payment plan, you must request this from the Court on or before your scheduled hearing date.   Please call or email the Court at tjc@nyecountynv.gov for more information.
