EmpowerEd: Education Support for Individuals in Recovery

The EmpowerEd Program, administered by NyE Communities Coalition in partnership with Nye County Health and Human Services, provides education and training support to Nye County residents in recovery. Funded through the Resilience & Recovery Fund, this initiative helps individuals pursuing certification, higher education, or vocational training achieve their career goals while maintaining long-term recovery.

EmpowerEd assists participants by coordinating directly with schools and training institutions to cover tuition and required fees. By investing in education as a path to stability, EmpowerEd builds both personal resilience and the professional workforce needed to strengthen recovery and prevention efforts across Nye County.

Living in Recovery Funds (Coming soon!)

Sober Living Assistance:

This initiative fills a critical gap in the local recovery landscape by providing funding to support transitional and sober housing. Stable housing plays a vital role in reducing relapse and supporting individuals on their path to recovery. Funds are distributed based on eligibility, on an as-needed basis to ensure immediate impact, with unutilized funds redirected to other recovery efforts in future cycles.

Transportation Assistance:

This initiative reduces one of the most common barriers to care in rural communities—transportation. By funding rides to treatment, recovery programs, support meetings, and related services, this fund ensures individuals can access the care they need without added financial stress. Like the Living in Recovery Fund, any unused funds will be reassessed and redirected in future cycles based on community need.

Know the Risk Initiative

This initiative invests in long-term, community-driven education efforts to prevent substance misuse before it starts. Through youth-led art competitions, digital campaigns, and printed materials, it empowers young people to become leaders in prevention while creating lasting public awareness.

It also provides accessible resources for schools, first responders, healthcare providers, and the public—including prevention signage, handouts, and campaign content that will evolve with the community’s needs over the next several years.

Centralized Opioid Response Dashboard

As recommended in the Nye County Community Needs Assessment, this dashboard will serve as a centralized, transparent tool to track local opioid-related data. It will compile information on overdose trends, treatment access, community programs, and public health outcomes—all in one accessible location.

By improving data-sharing and monitoring, the dashboard supports evidence-based decision-making, funding priorities, and collaborative responses across agencies and organizations. Over time, it will help Nye County identify emerging gaps and measure the long-term impact of opioid abatement efforts.
